The problem
Shopify merchants lose money on orders that should never have gone through: PO-box addresses they cannot ship to, wholesale products bought at retail, quantities that break a promotion. The fixes on offer were custom code or apps that check after the order is placed.
What we built
We ran our own sprint on it, the same way we run a client's. An embedded Shopify admin app with seven one-click rule templates, a rule editor, and a preview that tests a rule against a sample cart. The rules are enforced inside checkout by a Shopify Function compiled to WebAssembly, sharing one TypeScript rules engine with the app. Free and Pro plans run on Shopify Managed Pricing.
What happened
Spec on day 1, working app on day 7, deployed to production on day 8, with about a hundred automated tests. It now runs on our own infrastructure at checkout-guard.provemvp.com and is being prepared for Shopify App Store review.
